How to Post:

3. Type in your name and email address (and website, if you want).

2. Be a DJ and assemble your playlist of 10 songs that fit the theme. Remember: it’s not necessarily your Top 10 list, it’s a list of 10 songs you think best fit the given theme.
3. Be sure to specify both song title and artist (album title is good too). Optional: To really add to the experience, you can also include links to the songs on YouTube, Last.fm or other sites, so people can sit back and listen to your set.
4. Feel free to add any commentary on some or all of the songs on your list.
5. Post your list (and any links to songs) in the comments section of the corresponding theme post for that month at http://tenonthetenth.wordpress.com. Remember to subscribe to the comments thread when you do so to get emails as others add their songs and/or comment on your list.
6. Come back next month for a new theme and new playlists.

Guidelines:

1. All music is welcome. Any genre.
2. Only one list per month’s theme. If you do more, you’re not really narrowing it down to 10.
3. No ties. Sometimes in life we have to make tough choices. Make it ten and only ten.
4. Ten different artists each list – try not to repeat any artists (unless the theme specifically says otherwise). If you want to have 1 Beatles song on every list each month, go for it. But don’t make your list 10 Beatles songs, that gets tedious. Go for variety. (But there is a loophole for artists working under different names and bands. For example, you could do a Beatles song, a John Lennon song, a Paul McCartney song, a George Harrison song, and a Ringo Starr song all on 1 list.)
5. If you’re an artist yourself, self-promotion is great as long as it’s limited to 1 song per list (and the above loophole also applies). Besides, people will be more apt to check out your music if they see it side-by-side other music they know and like.
6. Commenting on others’ lists is encouraged but keep it respectful. Personal attacks, either of posters or artists, will be edited out. Repeated offenses tells me you don’t want to play the game anymore and you’ll be removed.
7. Spam will get you kicked out immediately so be careful with your links.

Love saves, love stinks. In celebration and/or condemnation of Valentine’s Day, this month’s music theme is that human emotion we’re all bound to feel (or think we feel) at least once in our lives, whether we like it or not.

Every tenth of the month, music fans from around the world get together to share and discover music around a given theme!

Here’s how it works:

On the 8th of every month at 9 AM Pacific (12 noon Eastern), the music theme is announced. But don’t post your list yet! You’ll have 2 days to think about it, search your music library, and compile your list.
